Washing machine Cleaning … and why it is so important

foto%20bad%20smell.jpg?1698355769

Washing machine is an indispensable piece of household equipment that we regularly use. But often we remember that it needs to be cleaned only when we notice an unpleasant odor from the drum and from the washed items. Manufacturers recommend cleaning the machine every 6 months, the filter every 2 to 4 months.

And we’ll show you how!

But first… why is it actually so important to clean your washing machine?

  1. Dirt, threads, hair, wool (everything that was on the washed clothes) can accumulate inside the machine.

  1. If the detergent is used incorrectly, then soap residues, minerals, and excess foam also settle inside over time. They form a thin film and clog the mechanisms. This reduces washing efficiency and creates an unpleasant odor that can permeate the clothes.

  1. Washing machines are usually humid and warm - this is an ideal environment for the growth and spread of bacteria and black mold.

  1. Limescale forms on the heating elements and they can be damaged.

  1. Other sources of contamination can be salts and rust contained in the water, soil or sand in the inlet hose, and small things that have gotten into the drain pump filter.

The insidiousness of such pollution is that until any problems appear, they do not show up.

Therefore, regular cleaning of your washing machine will save you from many problems and your washing machine will serve you for many years.

Steps for washing machine Care:

1. Clean the tray for laundry detergent.

Take it out and wash it in the sink. White vinegar will help you to remove hard water stains, baking soda will scrub off dirt and detergent residues. It’s a good idea to use toothbrush for small areas. (if the tray is too dirty, soak it in the soapy water for a while)

2. Clean the rubber cuff and the drum from dirt and limescale.

You will need white vinegar + dishwashing soapto remove grease and dirt on the rubber (you can also add some baking soda if more scrubbing is necessary). Spray white vinegar inside the drum and on the rubber, let it sit for 10-15min. Then take a sponge with soap and scrub inside. Make sure that you go in all the folds of the rubber cuff (take a toothbrush to reach any difficult areas).

4. Empty and clean the bottom filter of the washing machine!

The bottom filter of the washing machine is an important protector for the hose from little coins, paper clips, toys, stones and any other small debris, that was inside the pockets. It is usually located at the front, on the bottom panel, hidden by a cover or plug. Before opening it, place a cloth on the floor because residual water may leak out. Then unscrew the cap and remove all dirt and debris from the filter. Wash the filter itself with a soap, return it to its place and close the lid. 5. And the last, but not least: after all these procedures it’s a good idea to start a washing machine cleaning cycle on 60 degrees with a cleaning agent like Calgon. Do not add any clothes.calgon.png?1698356100

Just give your washing machine some refreshing time for itself!
