How to get rid of visual mess and disorder
Have you ever had the feeling just after cleaning that things are in their places, the dust is wiped off, the floor is washed, but something is wrong, there is some kind of congestion and negligence...?
This is due to the visual clutter.
According to the ancient Chinese doctrine of the organization of space - feng shui - disorderis negative, stagnant energy that takes strength from the inhabitants of the house.
Visual mess and disorder occur when horizontal and vertical surfaces are overloaded with thingsand furnishings.
Here are some tips to fix it:
Visual center
Create one visual focal point in each room - an object or area that will draw your attention.
As a rule, in the bedroom, it is a bed, in the living room - a sofa with pillows or a large round table and chairs with carved backs.
You have probably noticed that if you did not make bed in the bedroom or things are scattered on it, the room feels like a complete mess, even if everything is clean.
Enter the room and pay attentionwhat your gaze clings to at first. If it starts tossing around, you probably have more than one visual centre. You can fix this by using bright accents in the places where you need it and dimming areas that you don't want to be the centre of attention.
When visual centre is free, there is a sense of visual order in the room.
Free floor
The fewer objects on the floor, the cleaner the room appears as the eye sees a large, continuous space.
Even several small carpets will create more “mess” than one large carpet.
Finishing in one style
Visual clutter is also created by an unnecessary variety of textures, patterns, colours. A single style solution and neutral colour scheme with accent colours will make the room look neat.
Collections
Collections are great, but they tend to visually overload a room.
The solution is to split the collection into parts and either store them in different rooms, or periodically change the exposed elements.
Books
Books are not only a "guide to the author's fantasy world", but also a decorative element of the room. Straight lines and blocks of colour are easier to look at than zigzags and random bits of colour.
If you have bookshelves in your room, organize the books by size and colour - and they will decorate your home rather than cause visual mess and disorder.
Keeping your home simple and visually free is soothing and allows you to focus on more important things.
